roots rock band with pop inspired melodies and a modern twist from Austin, Texas.
"A little bit of soulful rock n roll, mixed with some Americana, and shaken and stirred with who-knows-what-the-fuck. The Soap Boxers are one of those bands that surprise you and then take you by storm… worth every penny at the door." - William Tompkins (Live Music in Austin)
“In a Ben Folds-esque fashion, The Soap Boxers artfully tackle the vocals and lyricism – it’s insightful, real, and ultimately, relatable.” - Jer (Sleeping Bag Studios)
Founded and created by keyboardist/singer-songwriter Jeff Norby, The Soap Boxers have set out to make genre-bending music while paying homage to the legends that came before. In collaboration with guitarist Deuce Bennett, bassist Miles Barker and drummer Dylan Hill, the group catches your ear with its 4-part harmonies, unfeigned lyrics, and searing guitar solos. Whoever said, “they don’t make them like the used to”, hasn’t heard The Soap Boxers.
In May 2021, The Soap Boxers released their single “Pain in the Ass” and celebrated the release at Far Out Lounge with Derrick Davis Band and 2019 and 2022 Austin Music Awards winner for “Best Horns” - Big Wy’s Brass Band.
January 2022 saw the release of the band’s most recent single “Downtrodden” recorded by Emmy winning audio engineer Matt Parmenter at Ice Cream Factory Studios.
The band has been afforded many electrifying opportunities recording with engineer/producers AJ Vallejo, Matt Parmenter and Nico Leophonte, as well as playing alongside well respected Austin legends Bob Schneider, Bright Light Social Hour, Charlie Mars, Folk Uke, Jaimee Harris, Micky & The Motorcars, Mobley, Patrice Pike and The Peterson Brothers.
